*Please review this information carefully with your athlete*
As a student/athlete representing Mountain View School, you carry a huge responsibility to act in a way that will bring pride to your school, your team, your family and Westwind School Division. In as such, the following are guidelines of expected behavior. By acknowledging this information below, you agree to abide by these standards of behavior set forth by MVS.

1.  I agree that school is more important than sports. You are expected to maintain a reasonable standard with NO failing grades throughout the season. If at any time your grades fall below acceptable levels, you will have 1 week to show significant improvement. If this doesn’t work you may be removed from the playing roster. If you are in need of extra help ask for it before it is too late. If you are sent to the office for poor behavior your position on the team may be examined. Any suspension may result in you being removed from the team.

2.  I agree that IF I DO NOT PRACTICE, I WILL NOT PLAY. There are three acceptable reasons for missing practice:
          a.  A family situation needing immediate attention.
          b.  You are too sick to play. If you don’t come to school don’t come to practise or games.
          c.  Extenuating circumstances beyond your control.

3.  I agree to respect and care for the equipment I am issued and agree to do the best I can to return it at the end of the season in good condition.

4.  I agree to respect those in authority, including the coaches, administrators, custodians, teachers, and adult officials from other schools.

5.  I agree to practice good sportsmanship before, during and after contests, recognizing the talents and efforts of my opponents and the game officials.
          a.  I agree to congratulate my opponent on her/his effort
          b.  I agree to not argue with calls made by officials
          c.  I agree to practice self control at all times, including no fighting or taunting or other negative behavior which would bring disrespect to my team and school.

6.  I agree to leave the facility I am visiting in better condition than when I arrived.

7.  I agree to represent my team and my school with class when visiting a restaurant or place of lodging with the team.

8.  I agree to encourage and remind my teammates of expected behavior and to correct it when necessary. He/she is representing the program of which I am proud to be a part.

9.  I agree to refrain from the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco at MVS or elsewhere and realize that this could ultimately result in suspension from the team.

10.  I agree to attempt to resolve conflicts or concerns with my coaches before asking my parents to get involved. I understand that part of the lesson I am learning through participation in sports is that I have responsibility for my actions and for learning how to handle adverse situations.
Acknowledgment *
The statements above have been reviewed by the MVS athlete named on this form, and he/she agrees to to follow these guidelines in order to bring respect of others to our team and to represent our team and school with class.

MVS PARENT'S/LEGAL GUARDIAN'S CODE OF CONDUCT
As a parent of a student/athlete representing MVS, it is expected that you role-model behaviour conducive to good sportsmanship and behavior that will not embarrass the school, your student, or yourself. By signing below, after reading, you agree to abide by these standards of behavior set forth by MVS.

1. I agree to applaud the effort of ALL players on both teams.
2. I agree to cheer FOR our team, not AGAINST another team.
3. I agree that officiating is a difficult, thankless task, and that officials are doing the best they can to be fair to both teams and accept their decisions.
4. I agree not to taunt players, officials, or fans before, during, or following a competition.
5. I agree to help control the unacceptable behavior of other spectators by reminding them that it is ok to cheer for our own team, but inappropriate to cheer against another.
6. I agree to support the goals of sportsmanship and help bring pride and respect to my son/daughter and the school they are representing.
7. I agree to support my son’s/daughter’s role on the team, even if I don’t understand his/her position on the depth chart. If I (or my student) have concerns, I will direct my son/daughter to approach the coach to discuss concerns. If I feel it is necessary to meet with the coach, I will set up an appointment with the coach, but will not harass or verbally assault the coach when I am emotionally responding to an issue and will observe a 24-hour "cooling-off period."
8. I agree to not post negative comments about players, coaches or officials through various social media. Rather, I will address concerns in person.
Acknowledgment *
I have read the statements of expected behaviour and do agree to follow these guidelines in order to show support of my son/daughter, and the team/school program he/she is representing.
